Industrial Ethernet Products

Unmanaged Ethernet Switches Join Line The vendor’s line of rugged, harsh-duty Ethernet switches has been updated to include unmanaged models that will support either 4- or 8-pin M12 twisted pair cable, as well as 4- and 5-pin 7/8-16UN power cable. The fully encapsulated switches are capable of information transfer and real-time I/O control in harshduty locations. The 4-pin switch is suitable for EtherNet/ IP applications with both managed and unmanaged options, while the 8-pin switch is suitable for standard Ethernet applications. They support 10/100 Base-T with twisted pair Ethernet cable. The unmanaged switches are available with 5 or 9 ports, while the managed switch is available with 9 ports, one of which is used as a RS-232 configuration port.

Media Converters Add Fiber Support Support of Single-Strand Fiber (WDM) has been added to the newest models the vendor’s Optolinx line of industrial media converters. The IMP-100AWA/ WB Industrial PoE Media Converter still features a 10/100TX port that has the ability to provide Power over Ethernet on the copper port, but now also adds news models that support Single-Strand (WDM) type fiber. Initial products currently support distances up to 20Km with longer distance models scheduled to be released in the future. Key features associated with the new IMP-100A-WA/WB Industrial PoE Media Converters include: embedded 1 Port PoE Injector Function; RJ-45 Port Support Auto MDI/MDI-X Function; Store-and-Forward Switching Architecture; and built-in Link Loss Forwarding (LLF) and Link-Fault-Pass- Through (LFP).

EtherNet/IP I/O Blocks A line of EtherNet/IP machine-mount I/O blocks and an IP 67 unmanaged switch have a low initial cost per point, says the vendor. Fast and easy IP addressing is accomplished using BOOTP/DHCP, through an IP67 IP Address Plug (IPAP), via a pushbutton display (100 series only), or Web pages. Backlit for easy reading, an addressable display shows all the octets of the IP address, subnet mask and gateway address while push buttons allow for easy adjustment of any octet of the IP address, subnet mask and gateway address. Detachable for rapid module replacement, the IP Address Plug (IPAP) stores the module’s addressing information in a convenient quickdisconnect unit. Certified by ODVA to ensure interoperability, these I/O blocks operate up to 100 Mbit/s speeds. The Ethernet cordset attachment point uses a rugged metal threaded M12 D-coded port.

Compact Ethernet Switches Added Six new models have been added to the vendor’s family of fully managed Industrial Ethernet switches. Housed in compact, hardened enclosures, the 709FX, 710FX2, 711FX3, 712FX4, 714FX6 and 7010TX were designed to provide maximum performance in harsh industrial environments. Product highlights include: -40°C to 70°C operating temperature; rugged DIN-rail enclosure; ESD and surge protection diodes on all ports; redundant power inputs 10-49VDC; configurable bi-color fault status LED; store-and-forward technology; onboard temperature sensor; and optional SD Memory Card Configuration back-up. “Our new compact products were designed to meet the rigorous requirements of wind farms, utilities, including power substations, and other industrial process control applications where noise immunity and support for longer distances are essential,” says Warren Nicholson, president and CEO at the vendor. “Up to 6 fibers ports in an incredibly small form factor provides the ability to configure fiber rings and fiber uplinks, in a compact, very cost-effective solution. The 7010TX also supports gigabit fiber.” N-Tron Corp. www.n-tron.com
