PRODUCT NEWS FOR METALWORKING, MACHINE TOOLS AND AFTERMARKET PARTS www.consumablesmagazine.net NOVEMBER 2016 A TREND PUBLICATION SPOTLIGHT LASER SUPPLIES MORE WITH LESS For most manufacturers, the mantra “do more with less” is shorthand for finding ways to achieve higher performance results while reducing operating costs. Fiber lasers have stepped up to the challenge with their ability to cut, weld, drill and mark. Adoption of fiber for material processing applications has risen dramatically. But according to MC Machinery Inc.’s regional sales manager, Bernardo Olguin, another major trend has emerged: A demand for laser equipment that uses fewer consumables. Abtex releases abrasive flap discs Abtex Corp. introduced abrasive flap discs for removing primary burrs in fine blanked applications. Abrasive flap discs, which are abrasive tools designed to grind and finish in one operation, last longer and save time and money by eliminating the need for multiple tools. Abtex’s discs are available in sizes of 10 in., 7.09 in. and 6 in. and in various grits. Abtex Corp. , Dresden, New York, 315/536-7403, www.abtex.com. Houghton offers new fluid equipment solutions Houghton International launched two new fluid equip-ment solutions, the Houghton GreenLight Continuous Concentration Monitor and the Houghton ACTS Fluid Monitor and Control System, which provide manufac-turers with greater control of fluid quality and concen-tration. The GreenLight Fluid Monitor uses refractive index sensor technology. The ACTS system measures pH, temperature, conductivity and other fluid properties in addition to concentration via refractive index. It provides automatic concentration control capability by independently controlling six separate programmable relay outputs for additions of water, fluid concentrates or additives.
